My niece was to quiet and we found the lovely child with a brand new toy; a penament marker. She decorated herself and my mom’s brown suede couch. Any ideas on how to remove picasso’s art decor?

I walked into a shop recently which sold authentic indian american art including jewelry and seemed to be very passionate about the indian culture. On the other side of the store was folk art/primitive decor/whatever you call it. You know, early english/american stuff. Well anyway, this confuses me. Wouldnt the people who lived in the early american era be the same people who forced the indians away from thier homeland? Or did they try to help them? Like when Thanksgiving came about? I am taking graphic design classes and I would like to do something for free for this store and want to learn as much as I can about the history of thier products.
sheesh calm down. This is all in one store by one owner… Do you know anything about the crafts/decor/art that I am talking about?
I guess an additional question would be does anyone know what kind of primitive art I am speaking of and approximately what time frame is it from?

When looking to a source for interior decorating inspiration, be critical in a way that will help you to refine and define your own taste. When turning to the work of another designer for decorating ideas, carefully look at the room and consider the basics: floor, walls, ceiling, and overall ambiance. Do not focus on details. When you are done, ask yourself these questions:

• How does this room make me feel?

• Is it too formal?

• Are the colors too light or too dark?

• Is the flooring too dark or would I rather have something darker and more anchored?

• Is the wallpaper/wall color intriguing or annoying?

• Is the furniture warm, dark, white, or colored?

• What do I like and or dislike?

Here are some sources of inspiration for home decorating ideas you may not have thought of:

Visit Design Models – Visit model homes, take home tours, or go to decorator show houses and checkout the work of talented interior designers.

Design Shows on TV – Watch a few shows to see what you like, then visit their websites for project information on interior decorating ideas.

Museums, Auctions, Antiques – If you are interested in period or antique furniture, visit the decorative arts departments in area museums and online interior design museums as well as auction houses, antique stores, and antique shows. This will help you become familiar with what is available in home decorating and educate you in the value of such pieces.

Interior Decorating Books and Magazines – Browse your local or online bookstore or library, or subscribe to magazines on home decorating. They will expand your knowledge of the design process and the materials and choices available to you as well as offering many interior decorating ideas.

Choose a Home Decorating Theme – Selecting an interior decorating theme is one of the easiest ways to decorate. Themes range from teddy bears in the baby’s room to pears for the kitchen. The list is limited only by your imagination. When choosing a theme for decorating ideas, consider hobbies, dreams, locations, and design elements in your home.

Choose a Decorating Style – Decorating styles provide a guideline defining which colors, textures, and elements to consider while excluding the things that won’t work. Common interior decorating styles include contemporary, Japanese, Tuscan, Mediterranean, and Country Ranch styles.

Research Online – The Internet offers thousands of links to online decorating tools, sites, and examples of home decorating ideas, as well as links to furniture manufacturers, color pallets, and wallpaper and fabric samples.

Fabric – The starting point for many successful decorating projects is a wonderful piece of fabric. Visit a fabric store for decorating ideas and get cuttings of everything that appeals to you. Be sure to stand at least 10 feet back from a sample fabric to get an overall sense of the design and color.

Decorating File – Keep a file of home decorating ideas with printouts, pictures, magazine clippings, and samples of fabric, paint, flooring, and paint.

Work with a Designer – Seek out a designer for a consultation, to complete a project, or for interior decorating ideas.

The role of art in country decor is somewhat different than its role in many other styles of decoration. In most styles, art plays the part of accents, for instance. Country decor, however, is a style of simplicity. Art does not sit on the sidelines to the same degree as it does in most other styles. This is, of course, not to say that country decor lacks art. Quite to the contrary, in fact, there is a great abundance of country art.

However, the art in country decor tends to be integrated into other elements, rather than standing on its own.

This gives the entire style a kind of coherence that adds a lot to the feeling it gives to people. For instance, when one sees a room decorated in a modern style, it is often a bit difficult to put your finger on exactly what style it is. Country decor, however, is recognizable at a glance. This is due in part to the fact that nearly everyone knows how to recognize the country art that is almost universally imbedded in the style. The common threads of the art are as simple as the style as a whole is. Much of the art takes inspiration from nature, even as it uses almost universally natural media.

For instance, the most popular forms of country art are wood crafts. Wood carvings are an art form that has been around since man picked up his first tools, and it has certainly stood up well to its age. Much of the wood carving used in country decor is as a part of a larger piece. For instance, a chair might have an intricate design carved out of the wood. Similarly, other wooden items are often embellished by the use of carvings. When wood carvings are used on their own, they are often actually simpler than when they are part of a larger unit. The artistic style usually used in the depiction of a given subject (most often an animal of some variety) is generally quite simple. Simplicity, however, gives it a sense of elegance and raw connection with nature.

Another medium often used in country art (specifically in the subset of rustic art) is metal work. This is most often done in aluminum or tin, and is almost always part of a functional unit. This sort of work is often done on lanterns and lighting fixtures. The complexity of the work varies greatly, from simple patterns to more complex things, such as wildlife scenes depicted in silhouette against the glow of the lighting fixtures.

Similarly functional is the most widely known style of country art, namely quilts. Quilts are, obviously, quite useful on a cold night to take off the chill, but a good country quilt is also the best thing to liven up a room.

Even when not in use, the patterns and colors of a quilt can work wonders for a room’s decor, particularly when other elements of /www.homes-seekers.net“>country art and décor are arranged to coordinate with the elements of the quilt.

Today more than ever people are looking to lend their homes a country touch by adding sizeable pieces such as rustic furniture or smaller touches such as rustic bedding to their rooms. Stop by our site today to receive many free rustic design tips. http://www.rusticadornments.com

Robert Forst asked:

I would like to tell you about the work of one of America’s most outstanding and fastest-rising artists, Laura Mostaghel. Her complete catalog is in itself a work of art.

Laura produces hand-made and -crafted works that will grace any home in your choice of: Paintings Vases and Tile Murals Watercolors,Jewelry,Giclées,Ceramic Boxes,Prints.

Her exquisite pieces are well-known to the rich and famous – household names long-known for their taste in fine art including Barbara Bush, Hillary Clinton, Sir Elton John, Sir Paul McCartney, and Clint Eastwood – as well as to connoisseurs and collectors of beautiful things.

While many of Laura’s original oils on canvas carry prices commensurate with their beauty and originality, she has also made many of these exquisite works available as giclées at prices affordable to most collectors. Some of these beautiful paintings in the glicée format are available in signed and numbered

limited editions on acid free archival paper. Many artists will create a series from a canvas painting onto canvas. Laura chooses, instead, to keep her editions on paper so all canvas paintings are originals and any series will be on paper. However, the paper is 30.5 lb. Somerset Velvet coated cotton duck, cold press/acid free in museum white. Collectors will want to know that this paper has almost as much cotton as regular canvas fabric and will thus retain

its intensity of the paints as well as canvas that is primed and UV protected.

These will of course be somewhat more expensive but will in years to come be revered by collectors.

Laura’s tile murals and vases are readily identifiable as unique to her studio for their use of bold, vivid colors and strong lines in contrast with soft, light areas depicted in clear glaze. These pieces are fired four times in a kiln in order to create a rich, armonious effect for them.

Her exquisite, hand-painted collectible series of decorative art boxes depicting women in colorful interiors, cats, and florals are wonderful gifts and keepsakes. Each box is an original like no other and is trimmed and accented in 22 karat gold. These boxes are also kiln-fired four separate times to achieve the quality that defines Laura’s art.

Please use this opportunity to look at Laura’s marvelous Display Page to see a showcase of color and frame coordinates for decorating your walls while

enhancing the art you have purchased. Note that all glicées from her studio are sold unframed. This page is presented as an idea page for determining your framing needs.

Often you will see that a piece you greatly desired has already been sold.

By special arrangement with Laura we can help you overcome this disappointment.

These will of course be somewhat more expensive but will in years to come be revered by collectors.

Since all originals are by definition unique, you cannot obtain a copy. You can, however, request Laura to create a similar piece for you. This means in effect the subject, themes, and atmosphere of the sold piece will be captured in a unique rendering depicted on a new original.

I love science and art. A few more classes and I could finish a BS-Biology. I like people all ages, medical field, college setting, problem solving and my interests are very broad. Could paint murals, do watercolors, pencil drawings, oil, photography, and I am great at interior decor (no formal education) Easier to state dislikes–hate doing the same thing everyday without engaging my brain. Dislike mean people, politics, lawyers, not a figure painter and not a huge fan of classical music. lol Have considered dental school, getting a masters and teaching art or art and biology… Want to make above average income( being rich would work out well but willing to compromise) , not be a starving artist or hang a worthless degree on my wall. Not getting any younger either. Anyone know how I could use my degree? I would consider opening my own business. ART is wonderful…want to do great things……need some ideas….anyone? anyone?

Decorating a cake can be a blast. In fact, decorating a cake is an art. It is all about making the finished product look good and very interesting. If the cake is meant for the kids then it also should be inviting enough for the kids to make them taste it.

If the decorating of the cake is done properly half of the job of a successful event is done. Cake is universally liked thing to eat. It can be eaten as dessert or as an accompaniment with the afternoon tea of coffee or just as something to munch on. So decorating a cake is all the more important.

When you are thinking of decorating a cake first thing to think about is the end consumer of the product. If the cake is for the tiny tots then first thing to remember is the shape and theme of the party. The children are fond of their favorite cartoon character or they want their super hero of the time. If the cake is made of a known hero or a cartoon character then decorating the cake becomes that much easy. Correct color combination is required and bingo the character comes to life.

If it is a wedding cake then decorating a cake becomes a lot more intricate matter. The cake decorator can either match the decoration with the décor of the venue or with the dress of the bride, or the flowers she is going to carry. This is where the art part of the decorating the cake comes in. Not only the color combination comes into play but the flowers also play an important part in the decoration. It is once in a life time situation so everything should be just right. Each flower has to be perfect.

There is tremendous scope for imagination when it comes to decorating a cake. Icing sugar, candies, colored sugar particles, butter cream icing, marzipan, and flowers made from marzipan, these are some of the things used for decorating a cake. White or dark melted chocolate combined with heavy cream makes a velvety smooth icing. It is called Ganache. It gives a smooth backdrop to decorate the cake more attractively.

Decorating a cake holds immense attraction for the artists. Many artists from different medium have turned and tried their hand into decorating a cake. Some of the known decorators are Ron Ben of New York. He was a trained dancer. Colette Peters was a painter. Judy Uson of Philippines has a fine arts degree. Bonnie Gordon a Canadian was a student of art history.

Decorating a cake gives immense satisfaction to the creator. It is considered as a form of art. The only difference is the art creation of decorating a cake lasts only momentarily. As soon as the cake is cut the pictured is shattered but the delight on the face of the customer is award enough for the artists to try and find new ways and ideas for cake decorating.
