Immaculate Marble Sculptures with polished looks have intrigued generations of people with their refined beauty, sophistry and elegance. Timeless masterpieces of art the sculptures in marble stones radiate an air of aristocracy and luxury. Wonderful statues, idols, decorative pieces are sculpted from metamorphosed limestones that are popularly known as marbles.
The sculptures celebrate the greatness of mortal souls into tactile forms. Invaluable legacies of art the sculptures have great cultural and historical significance. They speak about the art, culture and heritage of the bygone era. These immortal artworks can inspire the young artists and connoisseurs of arts.
The sculptors engraved impressive structures from blocks of marble. Tools like chisels, hammers and hand drills helped them to sculpt their creations. Rubbing stones and sandpapers were used to smoothen the outer surface.
Coats of shiny polishes like tin oxides were applied to add luster and glow to the sculptures. Marbles were used extensively for figurative works for the ease of use, remarkable quarrying capacities and durability that increased with ages. The translucent surfaces enabled a uniform and in-dept realistic touch to the structures.
The practice of sculpting marble into exotic pieces of art came to India from the European countries. Marble sculpting was practiced in vogue in Italy, Rome, Paris, England from the late eighteenth century. Soudbinine, Bourdelle, Leon Fourquet, Rodin, Victor Peter and Jean Escoula are some world famous sculptors who had left some indelible pieces of marble arts that inspire awe and reverence.
The tradition of Marble sculptures in India began with the carvings of religious deities. Idols of Buddha, Lord Shiva, Lord Ganesha, Lakshmi Devi and Goddess Durga spellbind with their intricate engravings, meticulousness, clarity and precision.
Spectacular architectures and royal buildings were established from fine marbles. The Taj Mahal of Agra is a living example of marble architecture built during the Mughal era. Inspired by traditional as well as contemporary arts, the sculptures in marble are visual embodiments of aesthetic creativity and excellent craftsmanship of the regional artists. Other popular themes captured in the sculptures were female figurines with all their feminine charms and graces.
Figures of birds, animals and tribal people were also modeled from the marbles. Colored marbles in shades of pink, green, red, gray and white were used along with the pure white marbles. Today the marble sculptures have made entry into the domestic arena as decorative art pieces in the form of figurines, furniture, fireplaces, photo frames, vases, medallions, show pieces, tiles and garden sculptures. The breathtaking creations of marble make for elegant and stylish indoor and outdoor decorations and cherished gifts to the loved ones.

My room was recently re-painted. The walls are a tan color with one accent wall that is a cornflower/periwinkle blue. I would like some ideas on cheap DIY ideas for my walls. Something like cutting a picture in half or thirds and putting it on picture frames in a sequence. Pictures of the craft would be great just so I can get a feel of what it looks like.

I am going to redo my room (for the 1st time in 12 years!)
There are 2 main items in my room that I plan to decorate around. They are my inspiration for whatever I want to do. I love old hollywood actresses and animal prints (like zebra and leopard). I love black & white, pink, and light purple (not necessarily all together though). Please help me find items for my room like: art, wall colors, furniture, and bedding. Prices must be as cheap or as reasonable as possible (I know that kind of makes it a bit more difficult!) 5 stars to the best answer!!!

Sarah Crosset asked:
When planning a room’s color scheme where do you begin?
Do you first paint the walls, pick the floor covering, or buy a furniture piece to establish a place to start? Yes, any of those options will begin the color selection process.
Another approach is to start where you may have ended before, by selecting the art for the walls. Instead of searching for decorative art to wrap up your project and fill an empty wall space, indulge your often ignored artistic sensibilities and find a piece of artwork that you love.
Art through the ages has been a means of communication. It may have been an expression of beauty or the documentation of a moment in time. Portraits were at one time the only means to capture the likeness of a person before the advent of photography.
Art can express the obvious, such as a realistic landscape or vase of flowers, or it can also leave the interpretation up to the eye of the beholder, as in abstract images.
The artist in his chosen medium is communicating a message. It is up to you to receive and appreciate the significance of the message. It comes down to- do you like it or not?
Art and the colors used to create it also communicate with us in a subconscious way.
You may be attracted to a certain color or repelled by another because the color reminds you something you enjoy or something you detest.
As you shop for art, notice what images and colors improve your mood. For your home environment, you are looking for an art piece that makes you feel good each time you view it. If it’s a scene, pick one that represents where you would love to spend time, a seascape, or landscape, or city scene. You will be visually transported there whenever you see it.
If you prefer a more random visual display, find an abstract design piece of art with the colors you enjoy and that works to create the mood you want to feel in the room. Cool colors or dark colors for a serene feeling, or warm and bright colors for a more lively feeling.
To create a focal point with your art, consider the size of the wall area where it will hang. Above a sofa or other long piece of furniture you will want to choose a size that is in proportion to the furniture below. A two foot wide picture above a six foot long sofa would appear lost, yet a picture the same length as the sofa would be overpowering.
The most attractive proportion creates an indentation of twelve inches on each side of the furniture piece. In this example, a picture four feet wide, centered above the six foot sofa is perfect. Don’t despair if the artist painted his canvas a mere forty inches wide. If you love the artwork, those inches won’t matter.
Artwork need not be large to make a huge impact. To create a larger footprint with an image, ask a professional framer for suggestions of framing profiles to increase the size and visual importance of your artistic treasure.
Once you have found the art piece that pleases your senses and sets the mood for your room, your color pallet for the other components is easy to follow. You need not use every color in the artist’s pallet. Gaze at your art work and select the colors that appeal to you for the walls, the area rug, furniture pieces and accessories. As with the artist’s touch, you will blend your colors perfectly.

Hi all
i just turned 21 and trying to realise my dream of having an online store.
I love jewelery and i am thinking of specialising on bohemian , jamaican and african jewelery.
i will eventually sell decor, arts and other acessories like belts and purses.
Right now i need help with some trendy cute names.
I have already tried the following and i dont know if they are catchy..
1. safari closet
2.xpressionsbymimi
i tried using something with my name “mimi” or “mimi’s closet” but when i google it, there are thousands of other businesses that already used that name, so i dont know.
i really want something that doesnt sound biased or excludes a group of people because i think the jewelery is wearable for all ages and races..
thanks in advance for your answers..

My friend and I are possibly going to set up a neighborhood holiday/crafts boutique on her street in November. She would invite other neighbors to participate. The “customers” will be just the people in her gated community.

I do jewerly and some other wearable art; she does baked goods, gourmet pretzels etc; and another friend of hers does bath soaps & bath salts etc.. We might do some home decor items.
What items would you buy that are handmade?
I understand how some people feel about buying food. But these will all be neighbors, many of whom have eaten at each others’ homes for parties so it will probably be OK.
