um i am not sure but it sounds like what you are doing is pretty cool and probably cool looking!
“found object” is a term coined by the father of postmodernism, marcel duchamp. look at his stuff, i bet you are unwittingly doing similar things.
your work is postmodern, because you are taking something made by another and altering it, thereby calling that object yours. like putting a mustache on the mona lisa (duchamp did that).
