Pass It On… asked:

I have an ugly ’70s style’, spindle-looking support column in the middle of my living room. Is there an inexpensive and creative way to make it ‘blend’ more with the room? The decor I have now is kind of an old world “art nouveau” look with a lot of wrought iron scrollwork pieces (lamps, wall hangings, etc…). The colors are sage green (furniture), persimmon (walls) and cream (window coverings). Also, the column is cream right now…should I paint it to match the walls?

I am sooooo indecisive about these things, so ladies and gents, I am looking for a little help in selecting a living room set…

I was all ready to buy this 2 piece sectional (micro-fiber mocha color) and then I saw a 2 piece sofa and chair with wood trim, that also is very nice….. My decor is a combo of african american art, abstract canvas art. We just painted our walls a chestnut tan color, and will soon have hardwood floors installed.

Here are the links to both sets:

If you click on the picture it will zoom it in for a nice closer look
The 2 piece set also comes in TAN

The sectional is simliar to this without the chaise

Which one do you think would look best with hardwood floors, african american art and canvas art??

Thanks!!!

So my room is a bit bigger than average size, its basically a square except where the door is it pops out a bit. one wall has a 2 door closet, and directly across from that is a big window in the middle of the wall. I have a dark brown bed set [bed, dresser, bookshelf, nightstand, desk]. My comforter is blue, lime, and brown, see the link on the bottom. I have the stripped sheets that go with it also. I don’t really have a price limit, I just want my room to look great! I need ideas to paint the walls, currently they are just white. Also, suggestions for pillows, picture frames/art, rugs, and any other decor are appreciated also! I’m 16, if that helps. Thanks!!

in the picture the dots look yellow, but really they are a lime color.
also, i don’t want the walls to be just one solid color. and, i don’t want like the majority of the walls to be brown, it’ll be to hard to paint over if my sister moves into my room when i go to college. Thanks for your help!!
erica: thats exactly what i was thinking! i was thinking about painting three walls one of the blues, then the last wall either having polkadots or stripes on it.

my floor: its a cream colored carpet, like just normal carpet.

We have a 2 1/2 yr. old daughter and her room looks so plain. We have her toddler bed that is oak that we bought from Toy’s R Us and a couple of small book shelves and all her toys, the wall has a middle border of pink and blue (pastel) colored flowers. I want maybe a dresser and some wall art and maybe something to store toys in, even though she takes all her toys out and scatters them everwhere. Any suggestions? It doesn’t have to be new…I can’t ever find the great blowout sales where everything is marked down, except for clothing, I’m good at finding sales on clothes…anyway, any ideas? We also have a new baby girl due in June, and we already have a crib and changing table, so maybe a dresser (in oak) for her room would be great too…any thoughts? We are in the central Texas area. Thanks!

the stencil needs to be BIG. I want to model it after this tree stencil from urban outfitters, if you go to the wall decor under furnish on the site, you can’t miss it.
I’m wondering what type of material I should use for the stencil, and where I could find whatever type of material that is. the plan is to paint the stencial multiple times on the wall.
thanks!

I have a black and white floral bedspread with red sheets. I also have a lot of colorful stuff in my room (purple curtains, a jade shelf and side table, a purple dresser, a bright yellow rug). I have a couple framed posters that are black and white and a colorful Andy Warhol print. There is one wall in my room that I don’t know what to do with. It runs the length of my bed, right next to it. What kind of wall decor could I put there that would look good with everything else? I know I have a lot of different colors but I think something big and multicolored would look tacky.. Any ideas? Maybe some kind of tapestry? Would any color look good without being too much?
