Pass It On… asked:
I have an ugly ’70s style’, spindle-looking support column in the middle of my living room. Is there an inexpensive and creative way to make it ‘blend’ more with the room? The decor I have now is kind of an old world “art nouveau” look with a lot of wrought iron scrollwork pieces (lamps, wall hangings, etc…). The colors are sage green (furniture), persimmon (walls) and cream (window coverings). Also, the column is cream right now…should I paint it to match the walls?

No attacks here, on me or each other – - just please, I’d really be interested, people talk about quality of life – - – - what does that mean to you? And no attacks on Bush or the Democrats either – - – no “quality of life means no Pelosi” or “no Karl Rove” – seriously, what do you look for, why do you live where you live, what do you like about it? To quote Fee Waybill, “What do you want from life?”

Me I love my kids, I love the game of soccer, I love playing soccer with my kids, I love art, women wine and song – I love beauty. I love creation – I collect antique Asian (mostly Chinese) pieces, lot of cermics but some statues and carvings as well – not paintings though since I frame my kids’ paintings and hang those up – they do a lot of abstract pictures so it actually matches well with the rest of the decor. I love food way too much – and music: jazz, blues, classic r+b, some rock, some old country, some classical. And the beach, the sunrise over the Atlantic…

I have a black and white floral bedspread with red sheets. I also have a lot of colorful stuff in my room (purple curtains, a jade shelf and side table, a purple dresser, a bright yellow rug). I have a couple framed posters that are black and white and a colorful Andy Warhol print. There is one wall in my room that I don’t know what to do with. It runs the length of my bed, right next to it. What kind of wall decor could I put there that would look good with everything else? I know I have a lot of different colors but I think something big and multicolored would look tacky.. Any ideas? Maybe some kind of tapestry? Would any color look good without being too much?
